Various studies reveal that millions of domestic workers, most of them immigrants, face wage theft, excessive working hours, food insecurity, immigration-related threats, and lack of contracts, while sustaining a very essential part of the care economy in the United States. Behind the millions of households that need to go out to work, this female labor force cleans homes, cares for children, and supports older adults. However, for many of them, especially immigrants, this essential work is marked by precarious conditions, fear, and abuse.
